The history of Wolky started approximately 20 years ago, in the early eighties. At that time, the Diks' shoe stores were selling plenty of comfort shoes. Comfortable, yes-but hardly fashionable. This brought the onset of Wolky when the shop's founder, Kees Diks, developed his own line of sandals. He had listened to his customer's complaints about their difficulty in finding fashionable comfort shoes, and wanted to help alleviate their problems.
Wolky introduced fashionable and colorful sandals, which offered revolutionary comfort to its customers. This revolutionary comfort came from the production of the Wolky signature insole, consisting of cork and memory foam. This insole is still used in many Wolky collections today, and some collections offer removable insoles for even more versatility.
Kees wanted the best designs for his Wolky shoes and sandals, and he got it with the well-known Dutch designer, Charles Bergmans. Charles continues to design for Wolky, even today, and it is his amazing designs that give Wolky that unique touch.
Wolky has spread into retail shops throughout the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. To provide the U.S. market with the best possible service, and constant supply, Wolky purchased their own factory in Mexico, which means shipments can arrive at the distribution center approximately every two weeks. Wolky also collaborates with factories in Portugal and Spain for the production of some collections.
